A native of eastern Australia, this large herbaceous plant has long, bright green leaves that form a giant rosette with a scape (or flower stalk) reaching over 3m in height with masses of bright scarlet funnel shaped flowers which appears in spring.
The Spear Lily is a spectacular plant. Both the foliage and the flowers are eye-catching. It will tolerate coastal situations providing it is protected from salt winds. An Australian bush tucker plant, the young flower spikes can be roasted and eaten.
