Planting

The biggest danger to planting camellias is planting them too deep. They are shallow rooting and prefer a moist (not wet) fertile, well drained soil. Mulching is essential to prevent the shallow roots from drying out in hot weather Feed regularly, Spring to Autumn with a liquid fertiliser and always water soil well before and after applying fertiliser. And apply a six month slow release fertiliser in Spring and Autumn. Follow directions and do not overfertilise as you can kill with Aquasol and Osmocote Plus are suitable for fertilising camellias or a specialist camellia fert.
